Lots of snow days...

After having attending school on Monday the kids were then off from school on Tuesday and Wednesday, and then having a 2 hour delay on Thursday. The President actually was surprised that we take time off from school around here for snow and ice! Apparently in Chicago they would still attend school and go outside for recess went he weather gets bad...not sure how I feel about any of this being changed...

It was hard to get around outside, all of our burning wood got covered in ice because the tarp blew off the wood pile before the ice storm hit, so that made burning wood for heat interesting...

My poor van stayed parked until Thursday afternoon as it just wasn't going to be possible to get in and out of our driveway, plus there was really no where for me to park at the creamery anyway, so Tony hauled the kids and I where ever we needed to go.

The kids stayed home for 2 days despite my mom's efforts to get them to go outside and play, they are like me in the fact that I never found any fun playing in the snow...it takes forever to get dressed, then you have soo many layers on you can't move, you get outside and your hands get cold when you start to play in the snow and soon after your toes start feeling cold and by then you have had enough and want back inside and then you have the mess of wet boots and all the layers of clothes...totally not worth it! Sophia is usually a bit more tolerable to the cold, but Gabe could live without any of the white stuff (well except for the fact it cancels school)

Tony and I would come home periodically to check on them and put more wood in the fire. They stayed busy playing games, watching tv, playing the Wii, and completing chore lists that we gave them to do...on Tuesday night we came home to a vacuumed house and the dishwasher emptied! They keep my cell phone and call Tony if they need anything important (things like tattling on the other one for eating something they were not supposed too or general disagreements!)

We had to cover the store and the billing persons job on Tuesday because they both called in sick, it worked out OK because the store had like 2 customers the whole day, the phone wasn't busy at all, and it was kind of fun doing someone else's job for a change!

The bad weather caused us a delay in delivering on Wednesday. The trucks did attempt, but when things looked like they weren't improving (road conditions and air temperature), we called them back home and now we are just a day behind delivering for the rest of the week. (most customers are very understanding of this)

Found that our one driver was guilty of the "egging incidents". Apparently he and his buddies got bored one night and decided they wanted to throw eggs at cars and so Joe told them he could get the eggs for free from his workplace and so they stole at least 30 dozen from us and hit downtown Frederick. Joe worked for us back when he was 12 on the farm and has been back with us at the creamery for about 6 months so we took pity on him and are giving him another chance, we are not pressing charges but I did take the money out of his paycheck for the eggs. He seemed very embarassed and ashamed yesturday when he came into work and apologized to us...( oh to be 19 and stupid!)
