Not your normal Saturday...

Woke up this morning with plans to take the kids to Home Depot for a kids workshop and then down to Burkittsville to visit with Grandma and Pappy. About 8:15 Tony calls me from the farmers market in Baltimore to ask if Mom and I would be willing to run a short route today since one driver didn't show. I asked Kate if she would watch the kids and we got the truck packed and headed out towards Lovettsville, Virginia for 17 stops. Some much for fun plans on a Saturday,huh?

We finished and were heading home around 1:00 and made a quick stop in the drop off some oysters to Grandma and Pappy before heading back to the farm to unload the truck and then pick the kids up from Kate's. Tony arrived back at the farm around the same time, along with one of the other drivers and soon after we all got unloaded we noticed a bunch of noise and commotion coming from outside the milking barn area. The Spanish were having a disagreement, one of them was stone drunk and they were beating the sh** out of one another!! Kicking, spitting hitting, punching, you name it, I had never witnessed anything quite like it before, luckily Tony and Ron (one of the drivers) were strong enough to get them pulled apart and then Tony had to even throw his guy on the ground and practically sit on him to get him to listen!! Finally, everyone cooled off and were able to get back to work, talk about exciting!! I even ended up in the parlor for a few minutes trying to help the guys that were actually trying to work, it is amazing how quickly that comes back, I have not milked a cow in at least 5 years, but I can still do it if I needed too!

The phones are still ringing off the hook at the office, lots and lots of questions about how to use the new website. I made some collection calls yesturday and one customer actually sent an email to us, a really nasty one saying how dare we call her at her home to collect money, she NEVER pays any bill weekly and our business practices are unprofessional...I swear I just don't get people sometimes, you provide a service and place a gentle courtesy call and this is the response you get back?! Most likely in another month after she still doesn't pay I will have to send her to collection, ahhh!

I ended up having to close the store tonight cause both my clerks needed to leave early for one reason or another, you truly do not realize the type of inconvenience you place on your employer when you call out or leave early, until you are the employer, this entire week the store clerk either couldn't get to work on time or needed to leave early, we actually placed an ad that started today to hopefully find a more reliable one, but probably not!

In other news, we switched from cable to satellite. It is basically the same price for more channels, plus we can record shows and other neat features we could not get from regular cable.
