Just another day for us, but it was special in the fact that like for many people it feels as though you are given a new beginning! We joked last night about how early we could get to bed, neither one of us being "night owls" even reminised about our dating days and how I would try so hard to stay up until midnight but I never made it, he would have to wake me up 5 minutes before the ball dropped, and last night we were asleep way before midnight! (Did get a chance to watch a GREAT movie before we went to sleep "Life as a House" highly recommend it)
Our normal Sunday morning breakfast spot did happen to be open this morning (unlike last Sunday when we had to resort to a gas station for drinks and donuts) as nothing else was open on the way to church! Church was a bit sparse on attendance this Sunday I guess too many people stayed up too late to make it to the 9:45 service. We made a quick trip to the grocery store before heading home to make some lunch.
We have nicknamed 2005 as the "Year of the Mud" for us, from moving into this house in the middle of the spring "rainy season", to dealing with the poor drainage around the house more recently and actually getting both of our vehicles stuck in the mess for 2 days before they could get tractors and skid loaders up here to scoop out the mess in order for it to dry out enough to lay a brand new drive, so needless to say our vehicles both needed MAJOR baths, so we did that job this afternoon as well.
I was able to get all the Christmas decorations and closets cleaned out and organized yesturday while Tony was away at farmers market. All the new toys have found a "home" within the walls of this house and as of this morning the place looked pretty good (organized, I should say).
After Sophia awoke from her nap we all went outside to play, since the weather was actually pretty nice today, played some soccer, "monkey in the middle", tag, and just goofed around together as a family, it was so nice and relaxing!
Tony and I made a great dinner of dry rubbed steaks, fresh tossed salad, and roasted garlic snow peas. The kids actually ate all of their dinner so we were able to have bananna splits for dessert!
All and all we have had a pretty great first day of 2006, hope the other 364 will be just as great!
