After Holiday Blues, and other assorted news...

It never ceases to amaze me how life just goes right back to normal the day after Christmas...nothing special just back to the day-to-day grind...the dishes need washed, the laundry needs folded...It's no wonder I get (along with many others) a case of the post"Holiday Blues." The house is in complete disaray, kids toys and games everywhere, the poor tree is so dead the ornaments are falling off the branches, there is no more need to hurray and wrap presents, or get menu items together for a big get-together, Christmas music has been "banned from the house" until next year...it is just all over. So much work and effort goes into this one day of the year, and then in what seems like a "blink" it is done til next year.

Don't get me wrong, we are so blessed with all that we were given this year and to have family in from far away to celebrate with, but it just gets to me every year, especially when last year we had to help Sophia open gifts and this year she is well aware of what a gift is and wants to do it herself! She was so excited about all the clothes she received from her Nana and Pop Pop from California, just LOVES clothes! We made so many new traditions this year, being able to go to church with Tony's brother and family on Christmas Eve, and then sharing a Christmas Day meal at their home, watching Gabe and Sophia play with their cousins and make memories to carry them into their future. I know growing up I always enjoyed getting to play with my cousins, so it is nice to see my children enjoying it as well.

On a different topic, the weatherwas quite windy last night. I stayed up most of the night listening to it howl outside, and rip the skirting right off the front of our house. We did not know the extent of the damage until Tony went to work this morning and saw how bad it was...so on top of the fact that the back of our house is a mud pit, (we are awaiting a load of stones from my brother) now the front is all ruined as well!

The nice thing about working where you live is that in situations such as this, Tony just rearranges his schedule for the day and spends his time fixing the house. By about 7:30 am this morning he had already made the necessary phone calls to order supplies and line up help to get the house back to normal. I am so lucky to have such a loving, hard-working husband to care for me and the kids!

My ne office assistant called in sick today, but there is still 2 of us here in the office, the phones are pretty quiet and we are getting a good bit of work accomplished. We go to my parents's house tonight for Christmas dinner and opening gifts.
