Has anyone else actually done this?

For a child that has always been a good listener and an obedient follower, Gabriel has sure found a way to "press all my buttons" in the last few days! I remember my mother getting so mad at my brother when we were growing up for fooling around and making any job take hours with all the whinning and complaining, plus he was nicknamed the "peaslee poke" for never being on time and because my Grandma's maiden name was Peaslee.

I guess Gabe has picked up on these not so wonderful traits, and I would like to get a handle on them now, but I end up loosing my cool before he does. Like for example this morning he gets up first and wants to watch tv, so I get him settled in in front of the tv and then Sophia awakens and I start to get her dressed for the day, and then he has a HUGE fit because he wanted to get dressed first, and the whinning starts and then he is claiming he doesn't know how to put on his clothes, and then I try to help him and he has to go to the bathroom and then he doesn't want his socks on first he wants his shirt on first...and on and on it goes and we have been awake a whole 5 minutes and I am frankly ready to call it a day!

He spends the day at his Grandma's and on the way home in the car he is crying because he wanted to give Grandma one more hug and she had already gone in the house it was pouring rain and I told him he would have to do it another time, and so it went on and on, I was so hoping for a quiet afternoon!

We get home and he dumps out his Lincoln Logs set (contains about 1,000 pieces) and I tell him at the time that when it gets close to bedtime he will be picking up that mess or I will throw it out, because EVERYTIME he gets it out to play with he can never put it away, he always needs help and I am frankly quite tired of doing all the picking up while he plays with something else when he is supposed to be helping, so needless to say tonight the Lincoln Logs are no more, he did not heed my warning, and I picked them up myself, and they are setting outside with the trash! I thought OK, this will really get to him and you know what he said to me...? "It's OK Mama, I have lots of other trains to play with, plus Santa Claus will be coming soon with my Christmas gifts." Oh, you are so NOT saying that to me...Santa might just be skipping over our house this year!

I think a child has too many toys when he just figures in his mind that he doesn't have to pick up the ones he doesn't like THAT much!

AHHHHHHHH! Will I ever get thru?
