Poor Gabe....

he has not been well for over a week, I sent him to school last week thru Thursday (when he came home he told us he declined lunch because he wasn't hungry)and then decided things were NOT getting better and ended up taking him to the doctor on Saturday morning after he was up most of the night coughing. After waiting over an hour past our appointment time we were FINALLY seen by Dr. Fleming who checked him out and ruled out pneumonia and diagnosed him with Acute Bronchitis, and since this has been the third time this season with Gabe having Bronchitis he did not want to go the antibiotic route this time as he is thinking Gabe is ultimately asthmatic and wanted to try a round of steroids...so we are having day #4 on the steroids and I am worrying that things are not improving as quickly as they would had he been placed on an antibiotic! Part of Gabe's problem is the fact that he has never learned to blow his nose (how exactly to you teach your child to do this, because apparently Tony and I have failed at this task)so he sucks all that mucus back in and then gags on it, which in turn causes him to cough and the whole process repeats itself! I think he may also have a touch of viral pink-eye (which is not contagious) but is causing his eyes to be swollen and watery. I feel so bad for him but do not know what else to do, we have him on like 5 different meds for all the different symptoms...I am hoping that with just 2 more days on the steroids things have to go up from here....

**the teacher announced to the class that Gabe was very sick and that he had Bronchitus, 2 of the girls from his class went home and told their mom's that gabe had breast cancer, so they called me to get the scoop...isn't it funny what 2nd graders hear??
