After much thought, family meetings, and even a visit from one of Yoder Dairies former managers (Lisa made the 4+ hour treck up here to MD to meet us in person and get the grand tour) we have decided to move forward with the expansion of South Mountain Creamery into Virginia Beach and the surrounding areas. We have placed advertising in at least one source that will be distributed to around 63,000 homes early next week, plus we are hoping to have one of the local papers run a story on us (which always yields lots of excitement!)
We will be offering the former manager of Yoder's a position in VA Beach to run the show for us there (setting up a distribution center, hiring drivers, admins...etc). At first our plans we not to start service until June, but a large dairy out of Chicago (Oberweiss Dairy) as purchased all of Yoder's delivery trucks and the original customer list so we figure we need to move fast to get our "foot in the door."
Between this and the start-up of South Mountain Veggies and a few other things we have in the works (more on that later...) life is certainly never dull or boring around here!!
