As I was putting Gabe on the bus this morning Mom said that the pigs were crying in the middle of the night and would need some attention...even though we had strawed them up the night before, it wasn't enough to keep them warm. Since the kids were both under the weather I knew I would not want them out in the cold doing chores tonight so Tony and I gave them an entire bale of straw to play in. With pigs you don't need to really spread it out for them because they naturally "root" thru everything they will basically make a bed for themselves and should be able to snuggle together tonight and stay plenty warm! In just the short time we have had them, they have really started to look quite "normal" instead of all scrawny and bony as they were on the first day, and all of them have such neat personalities and LOVE to be scratched behind the ears! We weren't able to water the pigs because it is simply too cold out, so we will make sure they have plenty of warm milk in their "slop trough" to drink until the temperature gets above freezing.
Vinnie doesn't know what to make of them, and the "weird" noises pigs make...but everytime I get in the pen with the pigs to feed them they follow me around and try to eat my boots or pants and this REALLY upsets the dog. He stands on 2 legs with his paws on the fence barking his his "scariest bark" (which frankly is quite pathetic) until I get out and then he promptly showers me with kisses as if to say "Mommy I am so glad you are OK"...just too cute!!
Tony took Gabe to his monthly cub scout meeting which ended up being a complete waste of time, because the parent that was due to instruct tonight thought the meeting was at 7:30 (instead of 6:30) so the boys did nothing for an hour and then we he FINALLY showed up and wanted everyone to stay Tony had had enough and said that he and Gabe were going home. he had been up since 4:00 am and it was past Gabe's bedtime...so Tony was pretty mad about that!
The boys picked up dinner for Phia and I on their way home. I got Sophia's pre-school [application in the mail today and promptly filled it out to return it tomorrow, the morning class ALWAYS fills up quick!
