It seems like I always get a dose of the post-holiday blues, and this year was no exception...usually it comes between Christmas and New Years, this year it hit me on Christmas Eve and lasted all of Christmas Day...after a really good cry, all is better and I feel very calm and serene. Today I spent the entire day with the kids, we played games, I did about 5 loads of laundry, scrubbed the shower, cleaned out the oven (even figured out how to re-calibrate it) so that we won't have to spend money on a new oven for the time being...I felt pretty darn proud of what I accomplished!
My mom called and wanted to know if Dad and her could come and look at our Christmas, but most of it is already put away. I was never good at keeping the gifts under the tree...even as a child I can remember trying to take all my "goodies" up to my room before my mom was ready for me too! I will most likely start to take down the ornaments tomorrow so that by the weekend the tree can be taken out into the woods and I can get my living room back in some sort of order.
Sophia was supposed to have a pre-reading class today at the library but because of the holiday it was cancelled, so while we were in town I decided to do a bit of grocery shopping before heading back home...(besides, they have a Starbucks in Middletown now, so it gave me an excuse to get a Peppermint Latte)...the new baby pigs were supposed to arrive today, but Dad did not have time to go and get them so that is a job that will have to wait until tomorrow. We decided it was time for Gabe to have some sort of daily responsibility around the farm, the plan was that Uncle Ben was going to by 2 pigs, one for Gabe and one for Sam so that they would have something to care for each day, well the night of the sale an entire litter of pigs went for nothing so we got 10 pigs for FREE! Between the old milk and apples that a local orchard wants to get rid of, the food for the little piggies should be free...at least for a short time!
We had a few items to return so we headed out to town this evening to return those and did very well at not spending any additional money. Tony bought me earrings, but they were too large and hurt my ears so I was planning on just returning them, but when we got into the jewelry store there was this beautiful blue topaz ring with diamonds set in white gold that I decided I "needed" instead, so I traded the earrings for a ring and saved about $40 in the process.

Tony and the kids are fighting colds, it seems like everyone around the farm has got something at the moment, first it was strep, then pink-eye, now some sort of stomach bug is going around...I just hope it spares all of us! Thank goodness I have lots of Zicam on hand, it is amazing stuff!
