First Day of School...

With the summer coming to a close, it was back to strict bedtime rituals, chore lists that need to be done each morning and now alarm clocks that need to be set and followed in order to have a smooth morning. Gabe's bus picks him up at 8:22 and I need to have Sophia dropped off at Grandmas BEFORE the bus arrives so that I can go straight from the bus stop to the office.

On the first morning, the whole family was in attendance to see Gabe off to first grade. Daddy was running a bit behind so Gabe had to make sure he was coming and therefore called him on the phone. Sophia and Vinnie goofed off, and Uncle Ben, Nana, and Poppy took lots of photos.

From the time I started to ride the bus (at the beginning of middle school), thru my brother riding the bus, and now Gabe, we have always gotten on the bus out in front of my mom and dad's house. Since it sits on the corner of 2 roads, we always got picked up once the bus came down from picking up the kids on Reno, and on the way home we would get dropped off prior to the bus going up Reno...so basically we got the best of both situations and not being stuck on the bus one second longer than necessary! The bus driver this year is new, and she decided that the intersection where we have gotten on and off the bus for the last 20 years is now too busy and she will pick him up and drop him off as she comes down the mountain, so Gabe will have to ride the bus for unnecessary time. I can understand her concern, but from my point of view her lights can clearly be seen from all points of the intersection and there would be always be someone there to make sure he was safe.

Of course, come the end of the first day both Sophia and Sam were very happy to see Gabe get off the bus, BUT Gabe on the other hand did not want them hugging him before the bus was most definitely out of site!
