I had the pleasure of joining Tony at the very early Saturday market in Baltimore yesterday. His normal help Jamie had to help his sister move, his brother was unavailable, my mom is fighting a cold, so I was the ONE...oh joyous!! 4:00 am came way too early and it was bitter cold outside to boot. We intended to take our propane heater along for warmth but left it sitting on the dock of the creamery, so thank goodness other vendors were more prepared and left me warm by theirs when my toes got so froze I thought they may fall off! Around 9:30 it FINALLY warmed up enough that I could make change without needing my gloves on and we had a pretty good day overall. I forgot how friendly the other vendors are at this market, everyone was so excited to see me and hear all about the kids. The bread vendor (Lisa) has since had a baby girl since I last saw her and she called her husband to bring the baby down so that I could meet her in person...very cute baby! Mick the pirate (from Whiskey Island) came up and gave me a great big hug and shared some of his piping HOT apple cider with me, Kathy (Reid's Orchard) wanted to make sure that I would be returning to Vienna this spring and we were catching up on each others' families since I had not seen her since October. We even let the GPS guide us home on a different route thru downtown Baltimore which was quite nice but not much shorter since we got stuck at every red light there was!
Tony did not sleep well last night, he has been fighting a REALLY nasty cough for about a week now and ended up sleeping on the couch because he was making soo much racket I would have not gotten much sleep either had he stayed in our room! We decided to stay home from church today because of him being sick and also because the weather had gotten pretty bad here by that time of the morning and we did have work that needed to be done at the creamery anyway. I made cinnamon rolls for breakfast and washed about 4 loads of laundry (since I wasn't home yesterday).
We all bundled up and headed out to the farm, I cleaned and organized the farm and creamery offices and then we helped Tony move all the dirty bottles back into the bottling room (as they had all been removed in order to install the new bottle washer). Mom and Dad came over to help us too. The kids had fun playing in the snow (about 5 inches of it) and this was a good snow for having a snowball fight.
We booked our trip for June, we will be going to Gatlinburg, TN and visiting the Great Smokey Mountains. I have fond memories of visiting this area as a child and can't wait to make new memories with my husband and children!
Vinnie is feeling much better today and joined us at the creamery too, he LOVES to play in the snow and even moreso LOVES to steal gloves off of unsuspecting children and then bury them in the snow...very cute, but very bad!!
Looking forward to Mom's slippery Beef Pot Pie for supper tonight, what a truely perfect ending to a cold, wintery day!
