Delivery Day

Well, today was the first official snowday of this school year, so since Tony did not think my van could handle our driveway, so he took me and the kids over to Grandma's so that I could get some work done in the office. Despite the 1-2 inches of snow we did get not a single one of our employees called in, all the drivers got to work on time, as did the processors and office personnel...we were very happy about that!

However, we did have 2 new delivery routes for two of our exisiting drivers down in SE and NE DC. We thought they would have no trouble as Tony has done the entire route 2 weeks in a row with little problem and we have enough GPS for all the drivers so we were feeling good about sending them out. Come to find out the one driver did not have a electrical outlet in his truck and since he was the last one to pull out he would be without a GPS, but he had driving directions as well as a brand new map of DC with his first few stops already marked.

Well, needless to say the driver got to DC, and never found his first stop and drove around for 5 hours, gave up and came home...well those customers were expecting their delivery so Tony and I get into his truck and race to meet up with him before he makes it the whole way back home, we take over the route and get to the first stop at around 1:45 and delivery the 48 deliveries and get back home by 6:30. We figured out after the fact that the driver was in NW DC and never made it into NE DC, because the street names and numbers are teh same no matter what part of DC you are in it can make things confusing, but driving around on 10th St NW will not find the correct house!

The kids are both fighting these chest coughs and Gabe has been on pink eye antibiotics since Monday, I may have to switch to another kind as it doesn't seem to be helping...
