This week has been extra crazy, lots going on...
Spent Thursday again on the delivery truck with Tony. We traveled down to NE D.C. it was much more relaxing this time around since we had a truck that was GPS ready and we really did not have to think about where the next stop would be. I kept busy pulling orders ahead so that when we did get to a stop he could just go and do the delivery, we had a pretty good system in place! We were hoping to actually run the route during the day, but our truck was having mechanical problems and had to be put in the shop as we were getting ready to pull out...ended up having to drive to Urbana to buy a new alternator before we could leave...thank goodness my Dad and brother know how to fix almost anything...I even helped hold the flashlight so they could see (I think I just wanted to feel important!)
Things Tony and I find "interesting" while visiting our Nation's Capital...
**we are glad that we do not have to walk behind our dog in the park with a little baggie on our hands so that we can pick-up the hot, fresh poop and put it in our pocket for later...YUCK!
**glad that we would have enough sense to wear footwear that would enable us to walk safely down the icy street and not fall on our a**, although we may not be wearing the most up-to-date fashion footwear! Thsi one lady was carrying her infant and trying to walk on an ice covered sidewalk in high-heel cowboy boots!!
Because of the lovely ice storm we received this week, we were unable to deliver at all on Wednesday, so we pushed all the deliveries back a day and finished out the week today (Saturday), that way none of our customers were missed and all the drivers still got their 40 hours! Production was working today as well since we have been having all sorts of problems with the bottle washer and bottle filler, wouldn't you know it, less than a month before the new bottle washer and new bottle filler are installed we have to put all this extra money out to make the old ones work...it is so frustrating!
In the office, we had to fire the girl who was handling the customer service and accounts receivable. She had worked for us before and we decided to give her a second chance (figured maybe she had done some growing up) but we were wrong, she could not seem to get to work on time, we found out that she had lied to us 3 times in the course of the 2 months she has been with us and the last straw was when Tony found out she had taken another job and was not planning on giving us any notice. So needless to say I am back working FT in the office. I am sure I will be fine for a little while, we have an ad in the paper so we will have someone to fill the position soon enough...
Gabe has been off school since Wednesday and the 2 of them together for the entire day can really drive ya nuts! Like today I worked at the creamery all day, the kids stayed with me until lunch and then my mom took them for a few hours and then brought them back...those few hours a accomplished soo much work! We have a VCR so as long as they find a movie to watch they are pretty good, it is when they don't agree on what to watch that trouble ensues!
Since Wednesday, my van has been stuck in the driveway. I have been relying on my Dad and Tony to come and "rescue" us when we need to go out to the creamery. Even Tony's truck had a bit of trouble back on Thursday and Friday getting in and out of the lane. The weather was a bit warmer today and is starting to melt all this away...we will still have to take the truck tomorrow to church!
