What a day, exhausting and exciting and sad, all at once! The day started at around 6:00 am as we needed to be out of our rooms and down to breakfast by 6:45, the ship had already landed at Port Canaveral and we were just basically killing time til the port authorities cleared the ship for disembarkment. We said good-bye to the crew members that had made our cruise so memorable, and I started crying, it is amazing how quickley you can get attached to these wonderful people! About 8:30 we were finally cleared by port authories and were able to start the disembarking process but since our flight wasn't until 11:45 we were not too concerned about missing our return flight home. As we are getting ready to board we run into one of our pastors from church also returning home from a long weekend of golf with his brother...they actually ended up setting right in front of us on the plane, what a small world it is! The kids were pretty tired, Sophia ended up falling asleep soon after take-off and Gabe played his Gameboy the entire flight (totally worth it weight in gold!)
Got home to 26 degree weather and the first snowfall of the season. We did not have any warm clothes because when we left last Sunday it was in the mid-60's and of course the entire week in Florida gave us 70's and 80's, so needless to say we were a bit cold waiting for our bus transporation to the parking lot! We figured the drive home would be easy enough on a Sunday afternoon but with the .5 inch of snow already on the ground it was a horrible drive home, with accidents everywhere and slick road conditions (what should have taken an hour took almost 3!!)
Came home to a warm house, Mom had stopped in a few hours before to turn the heat up and put some meat out on the counter so that I could make something for dinner. The dog and cat were very happy to see us, and Tony immediately headed out to the creamery, he needed to see what had been going on and get a handle on what laid ahead for the upcoming week, talk about hitting the ground running!
I on the other hand got us all unpacked and did 5 loads of laundry and made tea. Mom and Dad came over to visit and I gave them Coconut Coffee that I purchased in Nassau so we made a pot and sat around chatting about the trip and what had been happening around here.
I also found out that on Friday my Granddaddy Beachley had a heart attack and had to be taken by ambulance to FMH where he is still undergoing testing and might be transferred today to Washington Hospital Center for further evaluation, they are going to put a pace-maker in, but his kidneys are failing and his blood sugar is out of whack, so please keep my family in your prayers...we just got my Pappy Sowers home and feeling better and now this, it is sad to see those you love get old.
So I will be taking both the kids with me to work this week since Grandma will be busy taking care of Granddaddy and running back and forth to the hospital. I will submit photos and day by day happenings as I get more time...
