Boy, what a day this has been! As I mentioned in the previous post, Tony, my brother and my cousin all left for Virginia Beach this morning around 1:00 am to go down and get a bunch of equipment we purchased, all of them had promised the kids they would be home in time for trick-or-treating. Their day unfortunately did not go as planned and by 5:00 pm they were still stuck in rush hour traffic on the beltway!
Meanwhile, I still have no store clerk, so Caren and I managed to work the store and get our normal jobs done, my new A/R clerk came in and was able to complete the job pretty much in "solo" so I was very happy and impressed with that! Gabe ended up having some sort of stomach bug and stayed home from school, so I had both kids in the office with me until around 12:00 noon when Grandma came to pick them up.
Around 6:00 pm, as I was closing up the store, everyone finally arrived so that we could head to Frederick for trick-or-treat...this year we had Donna, Ronnie, Meagan and Arron. Kate, Samuel, and Blue, along with her sister's children Nicole and Kira, and then myself along with Gabe and Sophia. We had a great big wagon to haul the coats and extra bags in as well as for any child who got too tired to walk the whole way...Ronnie ended up pulling the wagon, and we joked with him that he must be a "polygamist" for Halloween with 3 wives and all those kids!
Around 7:15 Kate gets a call from Ben saying they are going to try to bring the 18 wheeler into the development that we are in so that they can make good on their promises to the kids...we give them directions and by 7:30 the rig and our 3 guys arrive...the kids (and wives alike) were excited to see them...I wish that I had pictures to share, but my camera does not take good night photos at all!
At the end of the night (after about 1.5 hours of trick-or-treating) the kids ended up with a 10 pound bag of candy...most of which will be taken to the creamery to share with the staff and drivers!
