Friday the 13th and other happenings...

I am not usually the type that is concerned about such dates as Friday the 13th...but around here in the past few years it starts to make you wonder when all this unfortunate stuff seems to happen on this day. The past few summers if the farm was going to get hit by lightening it would usually happen on a Friday the 13th that fell in June, July, or August. This year we surpassed all those dates with no lightening damage and then Friday, September 13th hit!

I had my store clerk and office assistant call in sick, our mechanic's daughter had to go to the ER for gall bladder surgery and was not around. Then our milk truck broke down in Gaithersburg and we had to tow him home, and the homogenizer in the processing plant broke AGAIN!!

Today was my last day at the Vienna Farmers Market, it was very bittersweet as Jim and I have become very close with the vendors and customers. We even had 5 more sign-ups today so we will have over 60 stops for Ronnie this coming Thursday when the Vienna route starts!! I am going to try to call a local newspaper in the Vienna area to see if they will run a story on us, as they have not had milk delivery since the early 60's so it might make for a good human interest story...

We had conferences for Gabe's first quarter this past week as well. He is doing fairly well, the teacher has tested him twice on his reading and he is really struggling, even though at home he seems to read like a pro and was even reading so well at the end of last school year, so that is frustrating for me to hear...maybe he just gets nervous during testing time?

My friend Erin and I did a scrapbook project together for the company that she works for (Creating Keepsakes), and it is a new album that is sold on QVC made by Lisa Bearnson. I had such a fun time, the kit was soo complete that all we needed was some adhesive, a stapler and some scissors and the directions were very straightforward that my album looked professionally done and I am NOT a creative person! After we spent about 3 hours on that we decided that our husbands needed to take us out to dinner so we ate at Ruby Tuesday's in Frederick.

We have a birthday party at the creamery tomorrow (the first one) so we need to get the Morton building cleaned up and then after that party is my brother Ben's 25th birthday party and we are having crabs and shrimp to celebrate, and then next week is the countdown to the Harvest Festival which is next Saturday and Sunday, please help us pray for gorgeous fall weather as we are having today!
