For anyone out there that may think being the boss would be soo much fun, well it can be at times but at other times it is hard. You really can't really be friends with your employees, but you can be respectful to them but at times when things may not being going right you may have to step in and say look you are not doing your job right and by being your boss I am telling you this so that. We are having trouble with one of the girls in the office, she just is not getting her job down, it is the same mistakes day after day, and I finally had had just about enough of it, we had been nice soo many times, maybe too many times, figuring she just hadn't gotten her feet wet enough. So yesturday when I found some checks just laying in a pile near the safe not stamped, I lost it. I didn't yell at her but I told her that the excuses just weren't cutting it anymore that we laid out instructions for the deposit and it was quite clear she is choosing to not do the deposit the way she was instructed. Tony happened to be in the office when it happened and after I was thru talking with her I spoke with him about if I had handled things OK (as I can tend to get emotional), he told me that I had done things fine. Later that afternoon she complained to Tony that she felt she was being dealt the raw end of the deal and thought this job was too stressful for the amount of money she was getting paid, Tony told her that we were not asking her to do anything he had not expected out of another employee and that he didn't think he should LOWER his expectations to suit her needs and that she certainly wasn't going to get a raise.
Today she showed up late, with a hang-over in her PJ's. When my other office girl asked her if she had just rolled out of bed, she laughed and said "yeah." I don't know anyone that has ever showed up to work drunk and in their PJ's!! As the day went on it was clear that she was bad-mouthing me to anyone that would listen to her. The last comment of the day that really did upset me was about just because I go to church doesn't make me a Christian.
When Tony got home I told him about the comment that was made and he decided then and there that the next morning when she came into work she would be fired!
