I could hardly believe that this school year is all over, ALREADY...and worse yet that my little boy will soon be riding the school bus to kindergarden! So I wanted to experience Gabe's last day of instruction along with him. I went along and sat in the class and watched them do the things they have been learning all year, "just one more time" as Mrs. Hansford kept saying, at some points it took all that I had to not break down right there in the classroom and cry, just TOO emotional for me! Everything that had his name on was already taken down from the walls of the classroom and handed to me to bring home, even the original teddy bear necklace with his name on it that was handed to him on the very first day of class was in with the items given to us to bring home. As if he were never there at all.
Because Gabe's birthday falls in the summer they also celebrated all teh summer birthdays together and Gabe was given his birthday hat and shared ice cream and cupcakes with his friends as we all sang "Happy Birthday" together.
Gabe's teacher is a long family friend which made his school year all that more special because Mrs. Hansford student taught with my mom all those years ago and Mrs. Loop's sons went to school with me, and they both took such wonderful care of Gabe this year. Tomorrow will be the final graduation and the picnic.
