He is so precious, I can hardly stand it! Duke is a mixed Australian Shephard pup with blue merle markings and the biggest sky blue eyes I have ever seen!!
Duke also seems to be very intelligent and wimpers if he wants to go outside. He is very active already, and he has a the sweetest little puppy bark.
I have been getting up with him thru-out the night and taking him outside, he was not to sure of the snow this morning...kindof did his business and wanted to go back inside. The kids and I went outside this morning to play in the snow for a little while and it was up to the bottom of his little belly and he really was not too interested in playing in it...neither were the kids for that matter, I think it took me longer to get everyone ready to go outside than we played outside!!
Tony saw the ad in the local paper for mixed breed pups and once I found out the pups were Australian Shephards I just had to go and take a look, as you can see I fell in love right away and we brought him home.
Now, about the name, we have such a hard time with names, it couldn't be just any "run of the mill" name, it had to have significance and I wanted it to be somewhat "Christmasy." I originally came up with "Jingle" as his name but Tony never liked it, however Gabe did and after that no other name was acceptable to him. The rule is we all have to agree on the name, so it was becoming more and more frustrating when Gabe didn't like the other names we were thinking about like Jack (Jack Frost), Blitzen, Comet, Prince (Prince of Peace), Oreo, Chip (Chocolate Chip)...nothing would do, Gabe was stuck on Jingle Bells...so then out of the blue we were thinking about names of Royalty and "Duke" came to mind, which again was immediately turned down by our Gabriel so Tony said to him...how about "Duke of Jingle Bells?" We will just call him Duke for short...and we had a WINNER!
Duke has really taken to Gabe, on the first night that we had him home he snuggled under Gabe's arm and went to sleep, so Gabe is taking alot more interest in this pup than he ever was with our "Daisy Mae."
Well I guess I did get my Christmas wish...just a little early!
