Saturday at the DC Farmers Market

I decided that I would go along with my sister-in-law Kate to the D.C. Farmers Market today to help out so that she would not have to make that long drive alone. We had a really nice time together, and the weather was perfect for a fall day!

The part of D.C. that we were in was quite different than the sites I have been to around the White House and the National Mall. We were in a residental area called Mt Pleasant, with many large older homes, and corner markets, it was quite cozy looking. The market itself is very quaint and had about 10 vendors including ourselves. The people were quite different, not as friendly, seemed to not want to chat too much, were just interested in getting their milk and moving onto the next booth. Many people brought their dogs to the market, and then after getting their milk and bread sat down on the cobblestone street to take in the beauty of the day. Kate and I stayed rather busy, but we also had some breaks to set and watch the people.

I had a girlfriend who is also an employee at the creamery watch Gabe and Sophia for me. Becky took them to the Trolley Festival in Myersville and out to lunch at Burger King before bringing them home. They always seem to really have a nice time with her, and she spoils them rotten too! Because of her, Gabe is now into going to yard sales, whenever he sees one, now he asks to stop to look for toys.

We also celebrated my brother's 24th birthday with a crab and shrimp feed in the Morton building at 6:00 pm. The crabs were a HUGE disappointment, and they ended up taking them back and getting all their money back. NEVER EVER buy crabs from the "Back 40" in Myersville, they were the worst...soggy, no taste, just horrible! So luckily, people also brought covered dishes so we had enough to eat!

Kate gave Ben a bike that he is supposedly going to ride back and forth to work (I will believe it when I see it for myself!) Happy Birthday Ben!
