Tony and I could hardly get ourselves out of bed this morning to put together day #2 of our 4th Anniversary Celebration. Neither one of us were excited about it, and we also did not have the crowd as in years past, so the days seemed to drag. This year we did seem to have plenty of good help to go around, so for the people that did attend we had plenty going on for them to do. We had our petting zoo with lamas, alpacas, donkey, goats, miniature horse, sheep, rabbits, baby ducks and chickens in our hatchery and FREE kittens that I think all disappered on Saturday.
One of the food vendors decided to back out at the last minute so our booth not only did the beef and pork this year, but also fresh cut french fries, which I think did well. (hopefully we can return the 4 unopened bags of potatoes and oil that we did not need).
Tony stayed around the milking parlor most of the afternoon just chatting with the customers and answering any questions they may have had about the milking process, and then he did take a few small groups thru the factory.
At the end of the festival both nights, all the family and friends that came out to lead a hand, relaxed together by playing football, drinking some beers, shooting of rockets, singing karaoke, and just having a good time...in fact we are now talking about doing 3 smaller mini farm days throughout the summer months and just having hayrides, hamburgers and hotdogs on the grill and inviting our customers to join us for a relaxing day down on the farm to spend quality time with their families. Even though we may not have seen the same revenue as in years past, the customers commented on what a wonderful time they had visiting our farm.
As many of you know I used to sing a lot, especially in high school. I guess I just got tired of it all and have stopped singing. Well, my cousin Scott talked me into singing along with the karaoke machine last night and I had a nice time singing again (not to say that I will start singing again) but it was fun!
It is a relief to have that finally behind us and now we can start to look forward to our upcoming vacation!
