Cold day for doing farm chores...

but not much choice in the matter since my parents flew out of town yesturday for almost 10 days in Arizona, Colorado and Nevada, and all the farm help decided they were quitting and thus left my brother to do the morning milking all by himself...

We got the call while heading out the door to church this morning...still wondering why he didn't try to get us earlier but nonetheless he needed our help with some of the afternoon chores, so after church and a few errands that needed to get done we came home and bundled up to go out and do some farm chores. I hate to honestly admit this, but Tony and I think that this was the first time for either of our kids to be out in the loafing barn helping to feed the cows and clean out pens!!! Vincent even came along and was in on all the fun, because he has been charging the invisible fence lately and we need to go and get the collar charged up. I am afraid he will get hit on the road like our Levi and our Daisy Mae...

The kids and I pushed in feed down at the beef cattle barn, they have helped with that chore before and seemed to enjoy it...plus it is on my list of chores to do for the week since my mom usually handled it. Then we headed over to the free-stall barn to see if Tony needed any help with mixing up the batch of feed or cleaning out the stalls. I guess we were outside a total of an hour and a half and the kids had had enough they were complaining that their hands and feet hurt and I think Sophia was begging to take a nap so we came on home and got both kids in warm baths and now they are settled in on the couch watching tv.

I will head back out a little later after the store closes to clean out the register, check all the temperatures of the coolers and make sure the routes are ready for the drivers tomorrow.

Tony FINALLY came in out of the cold and I decided to make breakfast for dinner, something my mom did alot when we worked late on the farm when I was growing up. I had pancakes, eggs, and chipped beef gravy, yummy! Tony had some eggs and toast, he says I got spoiled growing up having large breakfasts every morning, I said he was spoiled cause he did not have to get up at 1:00 am to milk cows!!
