For Gabriel, Wednesday's mean we have to make sure we remember to put his library book back into his backpack so that he can choose a new one during library time. Over the past few weeks, his book choices have not exactly been to my liking as they are usually books about motorcycle racing, big trucks, or something of the like that are just plain BORING to read. (well, at least for me and Sophia) So today I made a request to PLEASE pick out something that we could all enjoy together at bedtime, and wouldn't you know it he chooses a book he had gotten a few weeks back about making cookies...AHHH!!
So when he got off the bus today, my mom was there and I told her all about how his library choices have not been so great lately and she decided that we would all go to the Middletown library after she got off from covering the store. I was fun to watch her in a library setting (as she was a librarian for 15 years), I would recall a certain title I remembered her reading to me during library class and she could recall the authors name...I was AMAZED!! So this time we got quite a few books to read that I will enjoy reading as well.
Now talking about being a librarian...Mom did this job before there were computers to search up title and authors from, in her library there was the card catalog drawers that you could search in, and of course all the books had to be put away by hand (which I guess is still the case today)...but wouldn't you know it...she HATES filing?? At the office she files all the payables into a very LARGE shoe box but they hardly ever make it into the filing cabinet...I make fun of her all the time about that because being a librarian is basically filing and re-filing books, right?
Nonetheless, we are all looking forward to bedtime reading tonight!
