Nothing like waiting until the last minute...that seems to be the way it goes anymore around here...just not enough time to get things accomplished!
I called mom and dad a few minutes ago and invited them over for dinner and also so that they could help the kids carve pumpkins, I think this may be the second time in my life that I can remember carving pumpkins...my family just does not get into holidays, for us it is just another day, the cows still need milked and fed, so we never had too many traditions growing up. Tony on the other hand has very fond memories of holidays and carving pumpkins and trick-or-treating, so it is fun to be able to re-live our childhood thru our kids...for Tony it is remembering what it was like to carve pumpkins and go out trick-or-treating and for me it is watching with anticipation as my children come to enjoy our families traditions.
Tony cut the tops off and I did the job of scooping out the seeds, I tried to see if Gabe or Sophia would be at all interested but they both declined sticking their hands into the seeds!

While Tony and Gabe carved the faces, my dad and I took the seeds to roast (soo yummy!), and mom kept busy baking cookies, serving up mulled cider, and taking pictures, we had a really fun night together!
