I know, this picture does not belong with this post, right? Well actually it does, this was the most excitement that I got out of my HS Reunion this past weekend...watching my Sophia play in the water fountain at the park. I had gotten my hopes up that this reunion was going to be fun, that the people from my class would be different somehow and I imagined that we would sit around chatting for hours, and that people that I didn't really know from HS would be friendly and want to learn about me...well it wasn't that way at all! The picnic was to be from 12-5, and Tony and I brought the hamburgers and hot dogs, and everyone else that came was to bring a covered dish...well lots of classmates showed up empty handed, or if brought anything it was store bought cookies or chips. It was like 100 degrees out, Sophia only wanted to play in the water fountain, Gabe would not eat anything, most of the classmates that came were the same as they always were and immediately went right to the "clicks" I remember them being in 10 years ago. Tony and I realized that we were the only couple married almost eight years, most people in attendance were either just married or divorced...there were however lots of children for Gabe to play with. I tried to be friendly and greet people as they arrived, but most barely said hello before moving on. My good friend Becky, who planned the entire reunion was still in the hole $1000 for planning the 2-day event and said she will not be planning any more future reunions. So to our ten year and likely last reunion, I guess I have come to realize that people don't change, and those whom I want to stay connected to I have and for all the rest good luck in your life!
